Vittorio Marella (Venice, 1997) he lives and works between London and his hometown, Venice.
Vittorio Marella
“Verso il mondo nuovo” (toward the new world) is the title of this painting that was exhibited for the first time in Rome, at Palazzo Merulana museum, for the exhibition “Nuotatori d’inverno” (winter swimmers) curated by Giovanna Zabotti. Now is proudly part of Aquarius Collections.
Vittorio spent several time to realize his first large canvas (6 x 3.25m), in an old building under renovation on the Grand Canal without electricity or heating, in quite extreme conditions that he defined as “sixteenth-century”.
This artwork represent an important step for him and his career in the path that will lead him to exhibit at the 2024 Art Biennale.
Very fond to this painting, Vittorio is kindly telling us about his true relationship with nature, that means, a winter swim at Lido’s beach, like a ritual to find a real intimate communion with the cosmos: “the scene at the Murazzi is my life, cause I was born in Venice and growing at Lido, the sea is my nature”.
